Our Visit

What a fabulous trip. I would recommend the Enchanted Day and Night option for anyone looking at visiting over Christmas, which is a ticket which covers both the drive through safari and foot trails, plus the Christmas themed village and light trail.

We started our trip with the drive-through Safari, which always takes us at least an hour, because we love watching all the animals

Their favourite was putting my car at risk and driving through the monkey enclosure! There is an option to drive at the side if you don’t want to drive through. Within 10 seconds we had one of the monkeys jumping on the front bonnet, but its so much fun. We went at feeding time, so they were all by the roadside, with the little babies on their backs eating away.

It’s very scenic and relaxing, as you can go at your own pace. There’s the lions, wolves, deers, camels, rhinos, moose and much more to see on your Safari. The lioness was actually leaning against our car at one point. We sat there for a good 20 minutes just watching them all.

Once you return, there are all the rides which we’re open until 8 pm (closed briefly 3:30-4pm). Our 7 year old could go on everything & 3 year old at 1 m tall could go on everything bar 2 rides. You can either  buy tokens at £1 (some rides were 3 tokens each), however we went for the unlimited rides wristbands at £12 per child with an adult free, so it was much better value if you plan on staying for a while.

There was a Santa’s grotto which you could pay extra for as well (we didn’t go in as we there’s plenty going on anyway). There’s birds of prey to walk around, a large lake, the tiger and giraffe enclosures before you go to the light trail

The Enchanted Trail was amazing. It was so sensory and scenic. You can go into the Christmas village, where there’s marshmallow roasting for free, little huts where you can write your letter to Santa and post them in the musical post box. There were lots of different food options to buy from as well. My husband went for the Christmas dinner wrap and the boys got nugget meals as always.

The walk itself around the lights took us around 35 minutes! The boys loved the lights, it wasn’t overcrowded at all and there’s plenty of photo opportunities. We came back to have another hour on the rides before heading home. I think it is a really good option for anyone who likes the variety like us, as we were occupied for hours. All the paths are flat, wheelchair and pram friendly throughout the trail.
