The boys LOVE LOVE LOVE a visit here! This was our first time at Christmas.
The lodges are AMAZING, the best lodge we have stayed in! And with the Christmas decorations, it felt really special. The lodges all had wreathes and lights around the entrances, as well as large lit up Christmas trees all around the lodges. Inside its spotless, with all new appliances, cutlery, pots pans, microwave, utensils and even has a tv with Netflix on! There’s towels and the beds are made, soap, biscuits, tea/coffee there when you arrive. We spent a good hour outside sat on our bench, (each lodge has one and a bbq area) with a hot chocolate and waffles, listening to the owls and foxes! We couldn’t believe it! We had a really peaceful walk around the complex, looking at all the beautiful lodges and listening to the wildlife.
The lodges are decorated with woodland animals on the walls, lot of time and love has gone into making Wild Acre Village a family friendly space, where cars park near the entrance rather by lodges, there’s a big park for the kids to play, it has its own reception and shop selling toys/books/food and drinks
They have lodges with and without hot tubs (we have stayed three times and experienced both). The first time we had lodge had a hot tub !!! The staff were cleaning and filling it up as we arrived. We went in several times and even all had a 9pm dip! It was so nice and warm, the kids loved it as much as we did, so if you want to add the luxury of a hot tub, you can chose which you want upon booking.
We spend the opening hours in the theme park, on the rides and parks and then after it closes, we go to Crash landings, (restaurant and soft play open until 9pm) where only lodge guests are there (and the same again for breakfast up until 10am). It’s absolutely huge, with lots for babies, toddlers and older children. The kids went off and played safely, no hustle and bustle
There’s also a takeaway menu which you can get delivered to your lodge if you chose, for either tea or breakfast. You just call Sundown Adventureland and order over the phone.
Sundown Adventureland – Last visited December 2023
If you haven’t been, this is definitely one for your list!
Sundown Adventureland is fabulous for children 10 years old and younger. Our boys were both the perfect age for it and were entertained from the start to finish of the trip
This time we went on the Christmas ride, as this area is closed during the rest of the year. You check in with your elf, who guides you through various different rooms, before you go onto a sleigh and go through a Christmas themed ride together. At the exit, another Elf is there to guide you through to a special room where Santa and Mrs Claus are waiting for you. It’s a completely private experience, with only you and your family there, which makes it really personal, (to us anyway). Santa was LOVELY, he chatted to the boys about their wish lists and what they have been up to this year, Mrs Claus took some lovely pictures for us (on my phone) and then some professional ones. We bought a gorgeous picture of the boys for £8, which came in its own little frame as a special keep sake.
The rides are brilliant and our 3 year old at just over 1m can go on absolutely everything! There’s Rocky Mountain railroad, the Christmas sleigh ride, giddy piggie ride, pirate boat, ostrich safari ride, Robin Hood ride, tea cups and the tractors.
The parks are excellent, with lots of different equipment for the children to play with. There’s parks everywhere! Really well designed and there’s several parks to go on, all different themes (Angry birds, Captain Sandy’s play cove, Fort Apache, Noah’s Ark, Pirate Adventure, Smugglers cove
Everywhere we looked, there was something to entertain the boys. It’s very sensory, with buttons to press which activate something! There’s lots of little houses for them to explore in Storybook village, all fairy tales. Inside each is buttons to press for the story to be read.
The Wild West area was brilliant, with a train ride, buildings go explore, horses to climb on, shooting games. Rodeo corral is another soft play area (again amazing design and very large) however no pics as wasn’t open on the Monday when we planned to go in. We went last visit and again a lot of time has gone into to designing it and it had so much variety
There’s seating everywhere, so if you bring a packed lunch or just want to relax, you will have plenty options for where to sit. The staff are so nice and friendly, making effort with the kids. They spent time chatting to us about their Christmas experience and all the events they have on over the year
Highly recommend and we can’t wait to visit again! Ad/PR visit
