Our Visit
Last visited October 2023
Only open until the 29th October and then they are closed until next year!
We visited Bowland over the Halloween period & the boys had such a lovely time. They have an indoor pumpkin patch, with lots of pumpkins for £4, some really large ones, which you can carve out whilst you are there. Who ever painted their pumpkins for some decoration was clearly an artist, because they looked amazing! They had them everywhere, which has inspired us to try and paint a few at home!
They had some lovely photo spots, with spooky hats and things to try on. They had decorated the education centre, which our boys love with the reptile handling, as well as the tractor, which we always enjoy. The lads who were doing it today, were really entertaining, chatting with the kids and telling us lots of fun facts about the animals.
Dog friendly! (Not allowed in park or cafes) but they could go everywhere else
Lots of animals to see. There’s meerkats, European eagle owl, ducks, boars, ostriches, peacocks, donkeys, water buffalo, sheep, pigs, the goats and alpacas are in a walk through enclosure, so the boys hand fed them in there. You can spend as much time as you like in there.
Little zoo to you are fab and in the reptile area! You could hold a snake, lizard, snails, millipedes, cockroaches as well as the baby chicks (they also do birthday parties/school visits) It is staff dependant on what you can hold.
There’s a number of wild life walks through the woodland as well, varying in distances. All info is on a leaflet which you are given on arrival
We have visited at different times over the year. For anyone with sensory needs, the bank holiday weekends are very busy, as they usually have extra things on. The bubble lady was brilliant! She kept bringing out different types of bubbles. They loved this & revisited her a few times to play. They also have falconry days which are brilliant but busy.
If you want it a little quieter, we have found the weekends without extra activities on are quieter and we get there as it opens. You can book onto the tractor and caterpillar ride , head to the little zoo to you area which will be quieter and then you can explore the walks and animals in large open space. The tractor ride is about 15 minutes long and they take you up to see the water buffallo’s. The caterpillar ride is for the little ones and they are out of sight for a few minutes, but they do have a member of staff who sits at the back observing.
There’s a walk around to see the boars, which is nice. It took us around 45 minutes walking slowly to get around it.
The deers are so friendly, they come right upto you for feeds. That’s always super special for us and we save a bag of feed for them each visit
They also do overnight stays (it looks fab) for anyone wanting to enjoy a weekend there
You can spend the whole day here easily , so we usually take a picnic so they can eat on the go
