Our Visit
Last visited August 2023
We always love an aquarium, so decided to combine the Sealife Centre Manchester with Legoland Manchester (see other post for their info)
Lots of way to pay into the Sealife centre. Tesco clubcard is fab for this! We did a combo of ordering on the tesco app for one adult, using the Kellogs buy one get one free for an adult and child place, and Jonah was free (under 3)!
The Sealife centre is always such a lovely, sensory place to visit. It was not overcrowded (which was nice considering its the school holidays). It’s smaller than Blackpool Sealife, but we still spent around 90 minutes inside.
Lots of walk throughs, tunnels to go in, places to explore and watch all the different fish. You could just hear “shark” everywhere we went from our boys. They just sat and watched the large enclosure with the tortoise, sharks, sting rays in. There’s loads of space to sit down and just watch them from the window.
For anyone with sensory needs and disabilities, the atmosphere when we visited was very calm, space to explore and you could just take your time. They do offer quiet sessions at the Sealife Manchester every Wednesday 10-12pm, with the music, hand driers and televisions off. They have ear defenders available on request. Blackpool Sealife also offer this on the first Sunday of every month, for the last hour of the day.
They had a soft play area, with seating around the outside for parents. You can see the majority of the play area and both boys really enjoyed it & could play without us being inside with them (what a bonus!).
You can book for diving experiences, which look really good, but I think ours are a bit too young yet.
They have a shop as you exit, with lots of different toys, cups, sweets, ornaments, key rings etc. We bought a fridge magnet for £5 & some sweets for £2.50. Some of the cuddly toys were a little higher priced, but what I did like, was that you could buy smaller plastic animals , (crab, sting ray, sharks etc) for just £1.50.
